What ingredients do you use in your soaps?
At Real McCoy All Natural Soap Products, I focus on simple, thoughtfully chosen ingredients inspired by traditional soapmaking. My recipes commonly include oils and butters such as olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and lard, along with natural additions like raw local honey, goat’s milk, clays, botanicals, and essential oils. Each ingredient is selected for its quality and to create beautiful, handcrafted soaps made in small batches.
Are your soaps good for sensitive skin?
Many customers with sensitive skin enjoy using handmade soap because it is made with simple ingredients and traditional soapmaking methods. While everyone’s skin is different, I carefully choose ingredients known for their gentle nature. I also offer soaps that are unscented or lightly scented for those who prefer a more minimal formula. If you have very sensitive skin or allergies, I always recommend reviewing the ingredient list for each soap before purchasing.

Do you use traditional methods when making your soap?
Yes—many of my soaps are inspired by traditional soapmaking methods that have been used for generations. Long before factory-made soap was common, families made soap using simple ingredients like lard, honey, milk, herbs, and clays. While I still enjoy creating colorful and artistic bars, I am increasingly drawn to these time-tested methods and ingredients that reflect the heritage of true handcrafted soap.
How long do handmade soaps last?
Handmade soap bars typically last several weeks with normal use. To help your soap last longer, keep it on a well-draining soap dish and allow it to dry between uses. Because handmade soaps do not contain the same hardening additives found in many commercial bars, proper drying between uses helps extend the life of the bar. Every soap order receives a soap dish and a soap bag for free!
What makes handmade soap different from commercial soap?
Handmade soap is created in small batches using traditional soapmaking oils and butters, while many commercial soaps are mass-produced and formulated with synthetic detergents and fillers. Handmade soap focuses on simple ingredients and traditional methods, resulting in bars that are unique, carefully crafted, and made with quality ingredients.
Are your soaps made in small batches?
Yes! Every bar of Real McCoy soap is handcrafted in small batches. Small-batch soapmaking allows me to focus on quality, creativity, and attention to detail in every batch I make.
How should I store my handmade soap?
To keep your soap fresh, store unused bars in a cool, dry place with good air circulation. Handmade soap continues to cure over time, which can actually make the bar last longer once you begin using it.
Do you use natural colorants in your soaps?
Many of my soaps are colored using clays, botanicals, and natural colorants, while some artistic designs may also use cosmetic-grade colorants to create beautiful swirls and patterns. Each soap listing includes a full ingredient list so you can see exactly what is used in that particular bar.
Do handmade soaps contain lye?
Yes. All true soap is made using lye in a process called saponification, where oils and lye combine and transform into soap. When the process is complete and the soap has properly cured, no lye remains in the finished bar. The result is a gentle, well-balanced bar of soap made from traditional soapmaking ingredients.
Do you use palm oil in your soaps?
Some of my recipes include responsibly sourced palm oil because it helps create a firm, long-lasting bar with a creamy lather. I also make many soaps without palm oil, using other traditional ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil, lard, and shea butter. Each product page includes a full ingredient list so you can see exactly what is used in that specific soap.
Can handmade soap help with dry skin?
Handmade soap is made with traditional oils and butters that many people prefer over commercial soaps that may contain synthetic detergents. While everyone’s skin is different and soap is not intended to treat skin conditions, many customers enjoy the simple, thoughtfully chosen ingredients used in handcrafted soap.
